Run 4 Their Lives

Oct Nov News 1On Saturday, October 24th, over 100 people gathered at Straight Street to run and walk through downtown Roanoke to support and raise awareness for human trafficking victims. We are blessed to be able to partner with Freedom 424, based in Lynchburg that helps to coordinate races across the country. Oct Nov News 2

The race course is designed with a purpose.  Participants pass by the court house, police station, homeless assistance team office, train tracks and other areas most people don’t realize that trafficking may take place and .  Along the course, volunteers provide information about trafficking and heart breaking statistics as the one pictured above.  Please keep praying as we complete negotiations on the shelter location, a 12 bed facility on 30 acres of land, amazing.

21st Birthday!

On December 3rd, Straight Street will have a special birthday, our 21st!  On a regular basis, almost daily, I reflect back on our first night and then look forward with the same excitement.  As we prepared to open the doors to that gym in December of 1994 and wondered if anyone would walk in – then over 250 teens and leaders arrived, wow, we were amazed.

As we approach this new milestone, it is by God’s direction and His provision that we remain open and serve so many.  Also, it is by His direction that Straight Street has been able to partner with so many agencies and public offices to help teens in crisis situations.

As we approach our 21st Anniversary, would you pray that the ministry would continue to impact our community for Christ?  Would you pray that ministry would continue to be a bridge builder, getting teens from the street into local churches?

The reason Straight Street is able to celebrate is because of God’s provision as so many have faithfully prayed for the ministry.  I am convinced that prior to 1994, people were praying for teens and families in need of help, hope and support – in need of Jesus.  Because of those faithful prayers, Straight Street has been built on a solid foundation and continues to operate and offer more than just help, Straight Street is able to offer the hope and future found in a relationship with Jesus Christ.

As we look to our 21st Anniversary, please encourage your family, friends and church to pray for the ministry.  Also, pray for more volunteers as the ministry grows, we need more men and women able and willing to serve.

Ways to Pray

Enclosed this month is an extra page, four prayer requests. Two of the requests are from a recent Monday night with our teen mothers.  The other two are from teens at The Roanoke Valley Juvenile Detention Center.

I cannot express the how much we value and appreciate your prayers.  The teens we serve also ‘see’ the answer to your prayers as they gather, enjoy a meal and spend time with volunteers at the youth center.    Oct Nov News 6

God has allowed Straight Street many unique opportunities to serve, including helping teen/young mothers, incarcerated teens, homeless teens and teens in need of a caring place to go and share their struggles.  Straight Street has also been able to develop a unique monthly outreach, the DownTown Prayer Lunch for business people and law enforcement.  We just celebrated our 6th Anniversary of this monthly meal on November 5th.

We are in the process of updating our website and will have a place to see current prayer request and praises.  Please keep praying and sharing with others about the ministry.

In Christ, Keith Farmer

Good soundness is a result of regular exercise and lifestyle. How can medicaments hels up? However, there are web-sites where you can buy medicaments smoothly. A prevalent sexual claim among men is the erectile dysfunction. Viagra is a medicine prescribed to treat a lot of complaints. What do you know about “cheap cialis“? Did somebody tell you about “cialis pills“? A lot of websites describe it as “http://nvisionfor.com/cialis-com-review.html“. Several of the medications used to treat melancholia can also suppress your sex drive and make it harder to get an erection. There are more than 200 common drugs can cause this problem. Along with their useful effects, most medicaments, notwithstanding, have unwanted side effects although generally not everyone experiences them. Do not use such therapy without telling your physician if you are pregnant.
