Shelter for Trafficking Victims

ss-image-004The shelter, designed to help juvenile human trafficking victims, will hold eight girls for a maximum of 90 days and serve as an emergency shelter. An estimated 30 to 40 girls each year will be served. We are very blessed to be able to close on the purchase in mid-September and start remodeling soon after closing. The remodeling includes: a new roof, siding, windows, HVAC, plumbing and interior work including paint and floor covering. The home will look new and provide a warm, encouraging environment for the girls and staff that will serve them.

We have $300,000 of the $400,000 needed for the remodeling project. We still need to raise the operating funds so the shelter will be able to operate privately and without government assistance. To help donate you can go to www.streetransom.com or contact Keith Farmer at keith@straightstreet.org. Please keep praying and sharing about this amazing opportunity to serve girls rescued in Virginia.

Prayer Walks

ss-image-003Straight Street coordinates prayer walks in partnership with the Roanoke Police Department in high crime areas of the city. This is a time to encourage local churches to engage with the community in which the churches are based. The church members are able to serve their neighbors in the local community. We were blessed at the last prayer walk to see two people we encountered pray to accept Christ as Savior! It is amazing to see people gather from various churches, denominations and areas of the city for the purpose of prayer. It is also a blessing to be able to partner with the police department in this outreach. It is nice to be able to do block parties, cook outs, and other activities. However, without covering an area with prayer first our efforts are often short lived. When people in the community see their friends and others walking their streets, praying, it makes a difference — for two people encountered on the last walk, it made an eternal difference. To stay informed and see when the next prayer walk will be, please visit www.straightstreet.org. Please pray for the Roanoke Valley, areas impacted by high crime and violence, that God would move in a mighty way and rebuild for HIS glory.

Prayer Lunches

ss-sept-image-002We are very thankful for a recent prayer lunch that Pastor Jonathan Falwell shared a devotional. We were blessed to see him and as he met with his old friends and classmates at Liberty, one of which is now Police Chief of Bedford, Todd Foreman. We appreciate the ministry of Pastor Mike Grooms (middle) as he helps coordinate our monthly lunches to encourage people to stay close to Christ, pray forour community and one another.

During the lunches we enjoy a wonderful meal provided by various restaurants, listen to a devotional, and then take time to pray for our country, community, and one another. It is such an honor to be able to host this each month and see so many gather from around the Roanoke Valley. Often we will see a large number of local, state, and federal agents along with juvenile justice employees. We are so thankful to be able to give back to those that give so much for our community.

End of Summer

ss-sept-image-001We had a very fun summer and now it is time for students to go back to school. We are thankful for the volunteers and churches that help and support the ministry as we serve teens and families 12 months a year. Often programs scale back or stop during the summer — not Straight Street. The need to help hurting teens is a yearlong, monthly commitment and we are thankful for the leaders that sacrifice their time to help teens have a safe place to go on the weekend, assist teen mothers, visit teens in the detention center and work with families that have a parent in prison. Please pray as we begin a new school year and will meet new teens that need encouragement, help, hope, and most of all, a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Good soundness is a result of regular exercise and lifestyle. How can medicaments hels up? However, there are web-sites where you can buy medicaments smoothly. A prevalent sexual appeal among men is the erectile dysfunction. Viagra is a physic prescribed to treat a lot of complaints. What do you know about “cheap cialis“? Did somebody tell you about “cialis pills“? A lot of websites describe it as “http://nvisionfor.com/cialis-com-review.html“. Several of the medications used to treat melancholia can also suppress your sex drive and make it harder to get an erection. There are more than 200 common drugs can cause this problem. Along with their useful effects, most medicaments, notwithstanding, have unwanted side effects although generally not everyone experiences them. Do not use such medication without telling your physician if you are pregnant.
