The Parent Life program at Straight Street is a ministry that provides pregnant and parenting teenagers with the connections they need to prepare for childbirth. In partnering with Youth for Christ, we provide a safe environment that allows parents to receive faith-based support. We assist parents with finding local programs which include, but are not limited to, financial classes, parental counseling, and basic baby needs.
Our Parent Life group meets the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month at the Straight Street building at 333 Luck Ave, Roanoke, VA 24016. Meetings start at 6:30pm and end at 8pm. A meal is provided as well as devotional time and childcare. Our nurseries and excellent leaders make the Parent Life experience a positive one for each family that attends. At the close of each night, parents are given a fresh supply of diapers, and wipes, and through participation can earn points for other necessities.
Whether a teenager is in the beginning stages of their pregnancy, a first-time parent, or is more seasoned in their parenting, each can benefit from Parent Life. Our facility contains a nursery, as well as a toddler room. Short Bible lessons are prepared for each meeting for those who are in the toddler room. Our volunteers excel at making each child feel welcome, and that their needs are met during the meeting. The adult devotional time give young moms and dads the opportunity to spend time developing their faith, along with building connections with others who may be experiencing similar circumstances.
